Acid-free paper is
paper that remains neutral or slightly alkaline (in order
to be neutralized by acids in air) in pH value after being
dissolved in distilled water.
This paper acidifies slowly and is more resistant to deterioration.
Thus it is more suitable for drawing, relics repair, antiques
labeling, packaging and framing for a long-term preservation
of valuable paper relics.
To promote the concept of preservation of paper relics,
Chang Chuen Paper Mfg. Co., Ltd. A few years ago developed
100%-Kozo acid-free paper . Aside from high polymerisation
and stability, an impressive recycling rate of up to 50~55%
(vs. 30% that of Gampi and straw pulp) is one of the features
of this 100%-Kozo acid-free paper.
The use of chemicals is greatly reduced in the production
process of acid-free paper, and low-temperature drying
is applied for preservation of the original fibers.

Made from 100%
Kozo for high strength. |
| 2. |
High polymerisation
which attributes to higher stability and deterioration
resistance. |
| 3. |
Chemical-free
throughout the production and screening process. |
| 4. |
Low-temperature
drying to maintain original fibers. |
| 5. |
The finished
paper is slightly alkaline, in line with the 7.5
pH value of the USA Acid-free paper standard. |
| 6. |
Kozo acid-free
paper maintains its neutrality after 108 years in
the aging experiment, showing its slow acidification
property. |

For preservation
purpose, the relic is covered with acid-free paper,
with its smooth surface facing the relic and the
rough surface facing the exterior.
| 1. |
For a
single piece of paper, use acid-free paper
to cover both sides before storage. |
| 2.
|
For a
three-dimensional object, wrap with acid-free
paper, then store in an acid-free box or storage
room. |
| 3.
|
For a
scroll, wrap with acid-free paper, then store
in a wooden box. The wooden box should possess
high ventilation quality, for example,use
paulownia tree or firwood. |
